Vintage shopping in Malasaña Fuencarral, two mythical Madrid neighborhoods

With the latest fabric trends for next season hogging all the limelight in the windows of the country’s main shopping streets, there are a lot of people who like to treat themselves to a weekend shopping spree. Although there are a lot of cities in our country which are perfect for this sort of plan there is nothing like opting for Seville, Valencia, Barcelona or Madrid, our featured city this month.

Both traditional and cosmopolitan, large, lively and full of renowned areas, Madrid doesn’t just offer international brands and well-known franchises in its neighborhoods but also authentic vintage fashion ‘temples’ where you can find hidden treasures at incredible prices.

Our plan this month is to spend a lightning break in some of the best accommodation in the center of Madrid (like the IBEROSTAR Las Letras Gran Via) and treat ourselves to a couple of trips through the neighborhoods of Malasaña and Fuencarral, two the most legendary districts in the capital where you can find unique shops.

1. Magpie

Besides being one of the most authentic vintage shops in Madrid, Magpie has the best stock catalogue in all of the capital. With clothing of all brands and eras and with assistants who are experts in creating an image, to go through this store is one of the things you have to do when vintage shopping in Madrid. Where can you find it? In Malasaña, in the legendary calle Velarde at number 16.

2. Alphaville Vintage Shop

With 5 years history, Alphaville Vintage Shop is another of the best known vintage shops in Malasaña. Located at number 3, calle Velarde, this store features unique pieces and perfect accessories for an authentic vintage look.

3. Flamingos Vintage Kilo

With several stores in Barcelona and a unique concept in the world, Flamingos Vintage Kilo is one of those shops in Fuencarral in which you always “pull out something” (even if you don’t go with the intention of buying anything). Since you can buy by the weight, the final price is much cheaper than anywhere else. What ‘s the trick? We have to take our time to look, look again, try on and choose.
